Applications to Establish Your Business!
Please feel free to look over the requirements for licensing before opening the following applications.

NOTE: THE LICENSING PROCESS WILL BEGIN WITH THE ZONING AND ENFORCEMENT DIVISION YOU WILL NEED TO BRING IN THE COMPLETED APPLICATIONS IN PERSON IN ORDER TO MAKE ANY PAYMENTS NECESSARY AND BEGIN REGISTRATION OF YOUR BUSINESS:

If you are establishing a new business or becoming a new owner of an existing business it is required by City Ordinance to establish a Certificate of Occupancy.

If you are establishing a home based business it is required by City Ordinance to establish a Home Occupancy

If you are the sponsor of a special event that will take place in the City of Santa Fe it is required by City Ordinance to establish the inspections for a Special Event

Once your business has been registered by the Zoning division you will need to contact the Fire department in order to complete inspections at: (505) 955-3114

After all necessary inspections have been completed the Accounts Receivable department will contact you to complete the registration of your business.

If you are not contacted within 24-48 hours of your inspections being completed feel free to contact (505) 955-6551 to verify that the inspections have been cleared.

Upon the inspections being cleared you will be advised to bring in the application for Business Registration that is available below (It is different from the application for Certificate of Occupancy)

If you bring your application in person your license will be issued to you at that time.

You are welcome to complete the business registration process by mail and pay by check or fax in the application and pay by phone with a credit card. (505) 955-6551

You are welcome to complete this form and attach it to your business application. We will be happy to process your CRS number for you in accounts receivable

Special Events License Application
This application must be returned and approved before your special event can be approved.

NOTE: Please contact your sponsor or the business licensing office at (505) 955-6551 to verify how the applications are being accepted and processed

Ordinance for Business Registration/Licensing
It is unlawful for any person to engage in the businesses, professions or trades defined in this section as requiring a license, within the corporate limits of the city, without first obtaining a license as prescribed by this section and pursuant to Section 3-38-1 NMSA 1978

Business Registration: $35.00
(Businesses that have a physical location within the city limits are required to have a business registration)


Business License: $10.00
(Business that are located outside of the city limits but do come in the city limits to conduct business are required to establish a City of Santa Fe Business License)


Special Events License: $10.00


Sponsor of a Special Event License: $35.00


For other types of licensing or registration including but not limited to Auctions, Distressed Merchandise/Liquidation Sales, Carnivals, Circuses, Armed Private Detectives, Armed Security Guards, will need to contact the accounts receivable office for further information on requirements and fees.
